Aurora Power Solutions
The group founding company Aurora Power Solutions (“Aurora”) was established in 2008. It was one of the first to specialize in the early stage development of large-scale solar PV projects in South Africa and the permitting, licensing, design, financing and contracting associated with bringing these projects to fruition. From this foundation Aurora has grown to become a comprehensive developer and project sponsor in its own right.
To date, we have successfully developed over 265MW of solar PV capacity, representing an investment value of more than 360 million USD and creating clean energy to power the equivalent of over 150,000 homes.
SOLA Future Energy
SOLA Future Energy (“SOLA”) was established in 2013 by the same directors as Aurora to develop opportunities in the emerging commercial and industrial PV market in South Africa and the wider region. SOLA offers comprehensive EPC and O&M services and is able to design and construct projects that utilize any combination of ground-mounted solar PV, rooftop solar PV, carport- or building-integrated solar PV and battery storage.
SOLA has grown to be one of the largest solar EPC and O&M companies in South Africa, installing and operating in excess of 10MW of commercial and industrial systems, and has now started to expand its operations to selected regional markets.
We believe solar photovoltaic energy plays a critical role in the transition to a future powered by clean, affordable and sustainable energy. Aurora’s experienced team is dedicated to bring such a future to Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.
To unlock the vast potential for solar power on the African continent by leveraging our local and international experience, together with our partners and our industry network. Aurora’s stated goal is to have developed 500 MW of solar power capacity and fully own at least 50 MW of solar photovoltaic and storage assets globally by 2020.
Working with good partners has been fundamental to Aurora’s success. Our strength lies in partnering with like-minded companies and people who share our dedication to excellence and quality in order to deliver the best possible projects and solutions. Whether it is with local development partners, equity partners, project sponsors or international funders, we are constantly seeking to establish and strengthen partnerships to realise new opportunities.
